Dear Neighbor,
Happy Autumn and October! It's that brisk and colorful time of year again! And though it doesn't seem like it this week, cold weather is on the horizon. As we anticipate spending more time indoors in these next months, being in community means doing what we can to keep ourselves and each other healthy and safe. So please save the date for our annual Fall Family Health Fair, where we'll have a variety of free health services for the whole family!
Our office had a wonderful time at last year's Fall Family Health Fair, and we're excited to host it again at Koz Park this November!

Día de Muertos Celebration 🌼💀
Mujeres Artesanas con Carrillo is hosting a Día de Muertos Celebration on Sunday, October 8 at the Logan Square Monument, 3150 W Logan Blvd. From 12-6pm, join neighbors for a mercadito, dance performances, art, face painting, sugar skull decorations, and creating an altar where attendees can pay respect and celebrate beloved family and friends.
LIHEAP Utility Bill Assistance 💡📊
LIHEAP, the free utility bill assistance program, will be returning on October 2. Income qualified households can apply for assistance with heating and/or electric bills during their eligibility period. CEDA has some exciting news too! Qualified homeowners can receive vouchers for repairing or replacing their heating systems, such as furnaces and boilers. Call (800) 571-2332 or visit www.CEDAorg.net/Bills for more details.
FEMA Assistance 🗓☎️
The deadline to apply for FEMA Assistance for the early summer floods is fast approaching on Monday, October 16. You can apply for disaster assistance by calling 800-621-3362, visiting disasterassistance.gov, or using the FEMA app.
Bucktown Apple Pie Contest 🥧🍎
Join Friends of Holstein Park for a Bucktown Apple Pie Contest on Sunday, October 8 at 1:30pm at Leavitt Street Tavern, 2345 N. Leavitt St. Any donations and pie sales will be used to fund a renovation of the shuffleboard court at Senior Citizens Memorial Playlot Park.
