$500 million in rent assistance still available: Help us spread the word!
Dear friend,
I wrote you last week announcing the launch of the Illinois Rental Payment Program, a $500 million grant program to help people behind on their rent due to COVID.
If you are a landlord who is owed rent, click here and begin the application now. If you are a tenant who owes rent, please encourage your landlord to start the process as soon as possible.
Here's the thing: these applications are only open for a couple of weeks. So we want to get the word out to as many people as possible — especially the folks who don't get my emails, who aren't as connected to resources, but who need this program the most.
We're going to be running phone banks into the highest-need areas of the district to reach as many renters as possible who need assistance. It's a big task, and we don't have long to accomplish it.

Volunteering with our office has never been easier - you'll get a brief training over Zoom, and then you'll be able to make calls with other volunteers from our community. It's a great opportunity to do some good for those struggling with the economic consequences of COVID.

We'll also be canvassing the district the weekend of June 4 to ensure folks are able to submit an application before the program deadline.
