New Rent & Mortgage Assistance from Chicago
Dear Neighbor,
In the last couple of weeks, I've emailed you about rental assistance available from the state. But as of this week, a similar program administered by the City of Chicago is available too. Both of these programs are open for a limited time, so if you're looking for relief, be sure to apply as soon as you can.
The Department of Housing's Rental Assistance Program (RAP) is accepting applications through Tuesday, June 8 from individuals who have fallen behind on their rent due to financial hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Assistance will cover up to 12 months of missed rent and utility payments and up to 3 months of future payments.
If you need assistance applying, you can contact the ERAP Call Center at (312) 698-0202. Tenants and landlords can apply directly online at Chicago.gov/RentHelp

Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago (NHS) is administering the City's Mortgage Assistance Program. The maximum assistance for homeowners is $3,300. Applications for mortgage assistance are open until funds are depleted. If you have questions about the application, you can call NHS at (800) 831-7949 or email them at emergencyassistance@nhschicago.org
