Mortgage Relief - Dec. 31 Deadline
Dear Neighbor,
I'm reaching out today to share critical information on mortgage relief options. Under the CARES Act, homeowners with a federally-backed mortgage who are facing economic hardship due to COVID-19 can pause payments for up to one year, with no additional interest, late feels, or harm to their credit. This forbearance also freezes any foreclosure activity. You don't need a lawyer to request this forbearance. All you need to do is call your lender, and follow-up with your request in writing.
Here's the catch. Homeowners must request this forbearance before December 31, 2020! To apply for this relief click here.
If you need help applying for forbearance, you can visit Chicago Volunteer Legal Services' (CVLS) website here. You can use their website to check if you're eligible, review informative FAQ's, and fill out the form document to request forbearance.
CVLS also runs a hotline where you can have your questions answered by trained law students and attorneys who are ready to help. You can call the hotline at (312) 332-8785 or email them at covid@cvls.org.
During these difficult and trying times our office is always here to help. If you have questions about CARES Act forbearance, or other types of mortgage and renter relief, please don't hesitate to reach out.
