COVID-19 Updates & Legislative Town Hall

Dear Will,

As we continue to fight the third wave of the pandemic, it's important that we all do our part by getting vaccinated as soon as we can. Below I've shared a few brief updates on the vaccine rollout, and a new Federal assistance program that will help cover funeral costs for folks who passed away due to COVID-19.

COVID-19 Vaccines

On Monday, April 12 the State of Illinois will open up COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to anyone over the age of 16. Chicago will follow-suit the following week, starting on Monday, April 19.

There are now various mass-vaccine sites in Chicago, along with many local clinics. You can explore your vaccine options in the City of Chicago here, and click here to find appointments in Cook County. If you're still struggling to find a vaccine appointment, please reach out to our office.

Funeral Assistance

Also starting on Monday is a new Federal funeral assistance program. Those who lost loved ones to COVID-19 will be able to apply for retroactive reimbursement for burial costs. Applicants can receive up to $9,000 per burial.

To apply for assistance, you can call (844) 684-6333. The call center will be open from 7am to 7pm ET starting April 12. To learn more about this assistance program, click here.

If you have additional questions or concerns about COVID-19 vaccines, please don't hesitate to reach out to my office. We're happy to connect you with vaccine options and add you to our vaccine waitlist.

I hope you and your family continue to be well and stay healthy.

- Will
