Summer block parties! ☀️ 🎈
Chicago summer is in full swing, and here in the office we’re gearing up to make the most of it. As a longtime resident of the Northwest Side, I look forward to attending events in our community every summer like the Logan Square Arts Festival and the Puerto Rican People’s Day Parade. I get to have some fun, connect with neighbors, and chat about how to make our city and state better places to live. But beyond the big events, we always have a great time getting to meet folks at neighborhood block parties.
If you and your neighbors are hosting a block party this summer, let our team know — we’d love to stop by and say hi! My staff and I are going to try to attend as many block parties as we can over the next few months, and we’ll be sure to bring something fun to the party: free popsicles, giveaways, raffle prizes, that kind of thing.
Speaking of staff, I’d like to introduce you to two inspiring new additions to my district office! Amy Villaseñor and Simone Peña are recent graduates of Schurz High School in the neighborhood and I’m thrilled to welcome them to my district team as Summer Outreach Interns!
Amy and Simone will both be starting their college careers in the fall, but in the meantime, they’ll be helping our office coordinate summer events, collaborating with community partners, and learning about state government. Be sure to say hello if you see them around this summer!
If you have questions or ideas you’d like to share, feel free to use the "share your feedback" button below. You’re also welcome to share your thoughts with me in person, at my next "Coffee with Will" later this month - stay tuned for more!
Thanks, and I’ll hope to see you soon—
Will
