As the legislative session in Springfield intensifies with bill deadlines and budget discussions, it's been great to spend weekends enjoying Chicago spring, participating in community events across the 39th District. Here’s a recap on where our office has been:

After School Matters Summer Program
After School Matters is now accepting Chicago teens’ applications for their Summer programs running June 24 through August 2. Teens ages 14-18 can choose from hundreds of programs in the arts, communications and leadership, sports, and STEM, to discover their passions and develop new skills for life beyond high school.
This summer:
Chicago teens ages 14 and 15 can choose from programs offering stipends for participation.
Chicago teens ages 16+ can choose from Internship programs which will provide an hourly wage of $15.80/hour.

Pet Fair at Koz Park
Koz Park Advisory Council and the offices of Cook County Commissioner Quezada and Alderman Ramirez-Rosa are hosting a Dog Fair with free vaccines and microchipping for pets on Saturday, May 18 from 10am to 1pm at Koz Park, 2732 N Avers Ave. Please see the flyer above for more information.
Cook County LGBTQ+ Youth Art Competition
The inaugural Cook County LGBTQ+ Youth Art Competition, presented by Cook County’s LGBTQ+ Commissioners is meant to highlight the talent of young Cook County high school and post-secondary students. Winners will be recognized at the board meeting during Pride Month and their art will be displayed in the Cook County Building. Submit your art here before the deadline on Friday, May 24 at 5pm.
