Spring Recap in the 39th District 🌱🌷

Dear Neighbor,

As the legislative session in Springfield intensifies with bill deadlines and budget discussions, it's been great to spend weekends enjoying Chicago spring, participating in community events across the 39th District. Here’s a recap on where our office has been:

In late March, we joined Alderwoman Ruth Cruz for an Easter egg hunt in Chopin Park.

I also cohosted an afternoon of bingo at the Copernicus Senior Center with Cook County Commissioner Anthony Quezada.

In April, we celebrated Earth Month by helping plant trees around Kilbourn Park with Openlands and the 30th Ward office.

Our office joined Congresswoman Delia Ramirez, tenants, and local and national housing organizations to amplify critical housing legislation, like the Green New Deal and Tenants Right to Organize.

We attended Northwest Center’s annual legislative gathering to highlight the incredible work from their parent mentor and immigration navigator programs.

At the start of May, we toured After School Matters and attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Lutz Family Annex, where youth will have an opportunity to hone skills in welding, bike and skateboard repair, and urban gardening in Belmont Cragin.

And our office joined Rep. Jamie Andrade and other collaborating offices for a successful shredding and recycling event.

Stay tuned for legislative updates on some of my bills and news on the state budget next week!

All my best,
Will
