Have you heard about Illinois' historic Medicaid expansion? 💊🏥

Dear neighbor,

I’m writing today about a historic expansion of Medicaid in Illinois. Earlier this year the state legislature passed a Medicaid omnibus bill which included a range of critical measures aimed at creating a more equitable health care system.

Under this new law, health care coverage can now be provided to low-income immigrants ages 42 and older, regardless of their immigration status. Illinois is the first state in the nation to offer this type of expansion in coverage, making us a leader in healthcare access across the country.

I believe that everyone deserves access to quality health care services, regardless of their immigration status. I’m proud to have supported this new law, which expands coverage to a larger population than ever before. And I’m grateful for advocacy organizations like Healthy Illinois who successfully fought for this historic win.

While there’s still a lot more work to do, this is an important step toward guaranteeing healthcare for all Illinoisans.

You can enroll for Medicaid benefits online at abe.illinois.gov. If you need help applying for coverage, you can join us this Saturday, August 27 for a free Healthcare Enrollment Event at NEIU El Centro from 9am to 1pm. We'll be hosting an in-person workshop and will have enrollment specialists on-site to help individuals apply for coverage.

To register for an appointment please call 312-620-7592.

Hope to see you there!
