Donate a Purse & Spread Love to Women in Need on the Northwest Side 👜
Dear Neighbor ,
I have good news to share this morning, our "Love Purse" donation drive has been extended through Friday, May 12th!
Please consider donating a new purse that will go to women in our community who have experienced domestic violence, or have lost a loved one to gun violence.
Donation products include:
A new purse
Toiletries to go in the purse such as feminine products, deodorant, soap, body lotion, hand sanitizer, tooth brush, lip balm, nail file, socks, face mask, brush, full size shampoo, and conditioner, chocolates, a few coins for good fortune, etc.
And most importantly a note of inspiration from you that will go inside each purse!
Donation drop-off locations:
3458 N. Cicero Ave. <--- My office!
3140 W. Montrose Ave.
4007 N Sacramento Ave.
5624 W. Diversey Ave.
We can all see the dire impacts domestic violence and gun violence have in our communities. That's why I've worked in Springfield to support several measures that provide critical support and assistance to survivors of domestic violence. I voted to create a statewide Domestic Violence Task Force to establish a uniform statewide system to protect victims and survivors.
I also voted to expand protections and allow survivors of any violent crime, including gun violence and domestic, to take time off work to cope with the trauma. And earlier this year I took a stand against gun violence when I voted to pass the ban on assault weapons and high capacity magazines.
While legislation and policy change are critically important, donating to our #LovePurse drive is an opportunity for us to spread love, care, and inspiration directly to women in our communities who are healing and in need of support. You can drop off a new purse to any of the drop-off locations listed above before Friday, May 12th.
If you have questions about this drive, bills I'm sponsoring in Springfield, or are in need of assistance with a constituent service, please write me back and let me know!
Thanks, be well, and stay safe —
Will
