CPS School Updates
Dear Neighbor,
The school year is back in full swing — and with it, I know many of you have concerns about COVID spreading among children, teachers, and staff.
Chicago Public Schools has reported hundreds of positive cases, thousands of students quarantined, and an inadequately small testing regime that even the mayor recently described as disappointing.
We continue to urge the city to expand regular testing for all students, improve contact tracing, and provide more remote alternatives for families that don't feel safe.
We're very heartened by the positive results from vaccine trials in younger children, so hopefully that option will be available in the near future. Until then, if you or your family are regularly in crowded spaces like school buildings, please consider regular testing. Here's a link to a list of sites that are offering fast and free testing in our community.
And of course if you are eligible for the vaccine but haven't gotten it, now's a great time! There's a free vaccination clinic at St. Genevieve Church at 4854 W. Montana St. next Wednesday, September 29th, from 10am to 6pm. And there are plenty of other sites to get vaccinated — find more information here. You can also join us for one of our upcoming community vaccine pop-up's where we'll be administering flu shots and COVID-19 vaccines (find more information on these clinics below).
