COVID-19 Vaccine Information

Dear friend,

As I'm sure you already know, COVID-19 vaccines are being distributed throughout the U.S. This is welcome news for all of us. It signals that there's finally an end in sight to this pandemic that has devastated our country and touched every one of us in different ways.

Here in Illinois, we have moved from Phase 1A to Phase 1B of our COVID-19 vaccine rollout. Starting today, Illinoisans aged 65+ and specific groups frontline workers are now eligible to get the vaccine. You can learn more about who qualifies as frontline workers under Chicago's vaccination plan here.

It's important to remember that once you become eligible to receive the vaccine you won't be able to get vaccinated right away. Chicago expects it to take at least through March for all frontline essential workers and those over 65 to get their first dose of the vaccine due to limited supply and other complicating factors.

Once you're eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, you can register for a vaccination appointment through your healthcare provider, your pharmacy or your employer. Click here to learn more and register for an appointment here in Chicago. You can also sign up for notifications on vaccine eligibility through Cook County's Community Vaccination Program here.

I know there's lots of information to sort through right now. I also know there's a lot of misinformation out there about vaccines, and it can be difficult to find the facts.

That's why we're working with our partners in Belmont Cragin to learn more about how our community is feeling about the COVID-19 vaccine. If you have a minute, please help us out by completing a brief, 8 question survey to share your thoughts on the COVID-19 vaccine. This information will be shared with our office and community organizations in Belmont Cragin.

I know you probably have tons of questions about the vaccine. Know you can always email or call my office directly for assistance.

Sincerely,

- Will
